Food Drive: 
We are continuing to collect Food donations for the church.  This is one of the things that we would like to continue to do, to support the Church. This is one of many things that we do to show our duty to God and Church. It is part of the Cub Scout Promise. Stony Point Christian Church could require us to pay for each use of the Activity Center each week ($100.00)or the use of the kitchen for our diners ($75.00 plus clean up fee $25-$150) or even the use of the park during the summer ($75.00). We as a pack need to give back to the community and to the Church. This is a great way to show that as a pack family we love Kansas City Kansas and the people in it.  I hope that we can come together as a pack and show Stony Point Christian Church that we enjoy meeting there and appreciate what they have given and continue to give to us. Please bring 5 can goods or boxed goods (nothing perishable) every month to give to the church.  Please remember that you can't assume someone is able to have all the ingredients to make a meal, so when bringing items, such as macaroni and cheese, please make it the kind that does not require milk and butter.  Some ideas:  spaghetti noodles and sauce with meat already in it.  Macaroni and cheese shells (requires nothing else), evaporated milk can be used just like regular milk, sugar, koolaid mixes (already have sugar in them), canned vegetables (please check expiration, we cannot give out expired goods), canned meat such as tuna and/or chicken etc., Soup packages that make large meals you only have to add water.  These are just some ideas.  It helps to collect things that can be put into a meal. Ideas are welcomed.  Boys do earn service beads for this.

Why I can be Optimistic

Paul writes, "I can do everything through

him who gives me strength" (Philippians

4:13). I’ve known that verse for a long time.

Recently, though, I have found that verse to

be a great source of hope and optimism. The

verse, in its context, is Paul’s declaration that

his circumstances do not dictate his outlook.

If he is attempting to please God and follow

his will, then nothing is impossible. It really

can be accomplished. As I see it, that gives

great hope. Sometimes the circumstances we

find ourselves in are tough. Occasionally it

looks like things can’t and won’t work.

However, if we are simply trying to do what

God wants, those obstacles are nothing to him.

Let’s look at a few things, shall we?

Problem:

going on in our country. People have less

money than they used to have and

unemployment seems to be rising. Response:

It is a real and tough problem. It shouldn’t be

minimized. We need to look after one another

and follow the example of the early church.

What is most encouraging to me? Jesus said,

with respect to worrying about needs, "But

seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,

and all these things will be given to you as

well" (Matthew 6:33).

There is a real economic crisis

Problem:

Christian point of view seems to be

intensifying. Response: It can be difficult and

there may be more critics of the faith, but

"greater is he that is in us than he that is in the

world" (1 John 4:4). We need not cower in

fear. The end of the story has already been

written.

The conflict between a secular and

Problem:

today. Many churches, including our’s, has

seen a drop in weekly attendance. Response:

I don’t think the kingdom of Christ is

shrinking. There are a lot of churches that are

reporting phenomenal growth and activity.

That being said, there are some that are seeing

less attendance. I believe, however, a

"revival" is on the way. Churches that do not

compromise the truth of the word of God and

the power of Jesus Christ will find a hungry

and receptive audience. People will look for

truth. People will have to make some

decisions about values and faith. The issue of

"religion" is only going to get bigger in the

next few years. Churches that prepare to

lovingly present Jesus Christ and his grace

and don’t get caught up in legalism and their

own traditions will be primed to reap a

harvest. I am excited because we, at Stony

Point, can be that church!

I could go on, but space precludes that.

Suffice it to say that I am incredibly and

inexplicably optimistic about what God is

doing in the hearts and lives of his children.

Thank you for stopping by our packs Web Page. We are half way through the year already, how exciting.  The boys have accomplished so much already yet there is still so much more to do.  It won't be long and we'll be camping at Akaela's fire and preparing for day camp!  If you have any ideas, please share!  We are sill looking for some volunteer leaders and committee members.  Please see Bernadette if you would like more information.

RECHARTER IS DO IMMEDIATELY.  IT IS $10 PER BOY AND $10 PER COMMITTEE MEMBER.  THIS IS NOT AN OPTION AND CANNOT BE PUT OFF ANY MORE.  WE HAVE A TIMELINE ON RECHARTER AND IF IT IS NOT TURNED IN ON TIME, WE ARE FINED A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT WILL BE TAKEN FROM OUR CURRENT FUNDS WE HAVE TO USE.  THIS IS UNFAIR TO ALL WHO HAVE DONE THEIR DUTY.  IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID YOUR RECHARTER, PLEASE SEE BERNADETTE IMMEDIATELY!!!


PARENTS:  PLEASE NOTE AND UNDERSTAND, FUNDRAISING IS PART OF SCOUTS.  THIS IS HOW WE FUND PROJECTS, FIELD TRIPS, PINEWOOD DERBY, BLUE AND GOLD AND CAMPS.  IF YOU DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN FUNDRAISING, YOUR CHILD SUFFERS AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE PACK.  WE CANNOT FUND ANYTHING WITHOUT MONEY.  I KNOW A LOT OF PARENTS HAVE BEEN HELPING OUT AND DONATING THEIR OWN MONEY TO HELP PAY FOR ACTIVITIES AND THAT IS AWESOME, BUT UNFAIR.  WE ALL NEED TO WORK TOGETHER AS A TEAM.  ALL BOYS NEED TO SELL WHATEVER FUNDRAISER WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING.  WE'VE HAD SEVERAL PARENTS COME TO US WANTING AWARDS FOR PINEWOOD DERBY OR OTHER THINGS AND WHEN ASKED DID THEY DO THE POPCORN FUNDRAISER, THE ANSWER WAS NO.  IF YOU DON'T DO THE FUNDRAISERS, WE CAN'T HELP YOU.  I KNOW THAT SEEMS HARSH AND MAYBE UNFAIR, BUT IT'S UNFAIR TO THOSE WHO DO THE FUNDRAISERS AND DON'T GET ANY BENEFIT FROM IT.  EVERYONE COULD HAVE SOLD AT LEAST A COUPLE OF POPCORN TINS, EVERYONE.  FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DID, THANK YOU SO MUCH!  FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DIDN'T, PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN, STEP UP AND WORK AS A TEAM, SO THAT ALL BOYS CAN BENEFIT.  IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE JUST ASK.

If you are interested in Volunteering, we are looking for a Webelo I leader, Webelo II Leader (ours will be leaving once this group crosses over), Cubmaster (ours would like to cross over with her son) Assistant Cubmaster, Secretary, Committe Chair, Assistant Committee Chair, Awards Leader and someone to help organize fundraisers as well as volunteers to help organize different activities such as Turkey Dinner and pack meetings etc.   




IF THEY DO NOT TURN IN THE MONEY IN A TIMELY MANNER.  THIS MONEY IS USED TO HELP FUND THINGS LIKE PINEWOOD DERBY AND CAMPS.  PLEASE REMEMBER THAT OTHERS OUTSIDE OF OUR AREA CAN ORDER FROM OUR PACK BY USING THE ONLINE SYSTEM AT WWW.TRAILS-END.COM, SO TELL YOUR OUT OF TOWN RELATIVES THAT THEY CAN ORDER AND JUST REMEMBER TO TELL THEM PACK 3740.  THIS CAN ALSO BE DONE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.ORDERS FOR PRIZES ARE NOW OVER, HOWEVER, PLEASE REMIND YOUR FAMILY, THAT THEY CAN SUPPORT YOUR SON ALL YEAR ROUND AT THE ABOVE ADDRESS.  PLEASE SEE ME TO GET YOUR BOYS SPECIFIC KEY CODE, SO THEY GET CREDIT.

CubMaster Notes:   
An amazing year is flying by.  I can't believe the year is half over.  I think as a pack, we have come so far together and will continue to do so.  I look forward to more activities and excitement in the rest of the year.  Akaela's fire will be here before we know it and it will be amazing to see each boy advance to a new level and continue to grow and advance.  We hope the remainder of the year will be great fun  for all of the boys and families.  This is a great time to volunteer, spend quality time with the boys, and meet new friends.  There will be many upcoming opportunities for families to volunteer, and we hope that many of you will get involved.

It is important that you make sure that your sons leader and the committee chairperson have the most updated email address and phone number you have. If any of these change please contact them. This is how we tell you about activities changes and can ask you to bring items needed for scout nights. Please check the website weekly.  I will be posting dates and announcements as often as possible.  This will be a great resource for all of us to keep up with what's going on in our pack!

Decorations: Any ideas for themes, table decorations
Food: Pot luck, hamburgers and hot dogs or what  are your ideas....
Awards: awards are needed for leaders, special awards for helping parents and leaving leaders need awards too....
